dig yourself out, miner.

when will the day rise.
nothing vanished as she closed her eyes,
dropping the rag doll she once identified with so well.
she imagined all she'd ever wanted;
the hugs her mother would give her to put the world back together,
the big brother to scare the world she shouldn't see,
years that leaked sunshine into the ones to come.
"i have the key!" she said.
with her mind made up, she shifted her eyes towards the light.
the quilt of a world she made was shredded with her daydreams.
smoke sizzled those successes.
no naptime could fix this.
she called out.
brother couldn't make it.
mother wouldn't.
and the rag doll was no more.
"the room is getting dark" she thought.
the shadow spilling onto the floor and creeping up her arms.
"the sun will come soon!" she shouted.
soon, she hoped.
she hoped.
